about

This album pays tribute, in poetry and in piano improvisations, to the life and music of boogie-woogie pianist Albert Ammons (and other musicians in his circle and his artistic lineage, including Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson, Lena Horne, Teddy Wilson, Israel Crosby, Pinetop Smith, and others). The texts are pre-composed, while the music is freely improvised.
